My future plans

Since I could remember, I was always asked what I wanted to be when I grew up either from family or teachers. I first started as wanting to be an painter when I was in grade school because I loved art but my mom told me that I would end up homeless with no job, so that idea went out the window. I then decided to do something in law but after taking a few classes in high school I realized that law was not for me. Then in my senior year of high school, I took a class on marketing and really liked it. I decided that I wanted to major in it and decided to attend Baruch.

3 years later, I'm still a marketing major but with a better idea of what I want to do after I graduate. I will like to pursue a career in advertising, most likely in brand planning because it involves psychology and creativity, which is what interests me the most.I will also like to work for an AD agency that does work for sport companies for example like NIKE, since I'm an athlete and find their Ads very motivating and inspiring.

After i graduate though, I don't want to jump into the field right away; I will like to accomplish some personal goals for example like traveling. After working for a couple of years, I will probably go back to school for my masters.

I'm pretty set about what I want for my future and hope to one day accomplish it.

  1. You should do grad school when your employers pay for your tuition!

  3. Wow it's so cool that you know what kind of ad agency you want to work for. I think going for masters is a great idea since most employers requires at least a MBA degree nowadays. Wish you the best of luck!

  4. It's a good thing that your vision is more narrowed down. There's a lot that can be done in the field of marketing so knowing that you want to do brand planning and to work for sport companies like NIKE will probably help in your decision making. Traveling is good too, hopefully that's something you can do for your job too. Good luck! :)

  5. I think it's great that you have both clear personal and business goals. Also, it's nice to see someone who isn't in a rush to achieve everything. I know a lot of people who are set on making as much money as they can as fast as they can, but in the end money doesn't buy happiness. Fulfilling your personal goals is what will bring you true happiness and then the money and the job will follow. Good luck
